Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) between the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission and China Securities Regulatory Commission

According to an announcement of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) dated 18 May 2012, CySEC has signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation (MoU) with the China Securities Regulatory Commission in Beijing on the 17th of May 2012. The MoU was signed by the Vice-Chairman of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Andreas Andreou and the Chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission, Mr. Guo Shuqing.

The signing of the MoU will further strengthen the framework and procedures for the exchange of information between the two Supervisory Authorities and enhance their cooperation towards meeting their objectives, especially in terms of the better supervision of transactions and activities in the respective securities markets.

Furthermore, the above mentioned MoU is anticipated to strengthen the entrepreneurial and investment activity of Cypriot and Chinese financial entities in the securities markets of both countries.
